THE WORLD’S FIRST SCHOOL CLIMATE CHANGE PROTESTER
Climate Change school protest didn’t start in Sweden but in N. Ireland on the CAUSEWAY COAST.
Katie Christie was 12 at the time and helping me with my ill fated election campaign in 2007. I was running on a green ticket amongst other issues. Once again the important issues were being ignored – hence the tee shirt.

She is looking quite pissed off, which I felt was necessary. I had her standing in the cold waters of the North Atlantic for 5 minutes to get the desired effect. She is actually asking me through clenched teeth
How much longer do I have to stand here? I’m Freeeezing!
Katie Christie
That line on the poster is completely hers. which I incorporated I incorporated into a song at the middle eight stage.
She went on to study Genetics at UU in Coleraine where she leaving with a PHD.
She is now doing research into Genetics at Harvard University in Boston. She hates that photo, however, I think it’s close to iconic as she is asking a really important question – which demands an immediate answer!
Here is a photo of Katie 11 years later (2018 at the University of Ulster award ceremony in Coleraine receiving her PHD in genetics as well as top student award from actor James Nesbitt who was also the Chancellor there. Katie is now doing research into genetics at Harvard in Boston.
